      FUNCTIONS:

  • It is a statutory body under the aegis of Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change
  • It works to improve the quality of air/water and brings out rules for controlling noise pollution
  • CPCB is entrusted with the waste/sewage management and dispersal
  • Co-ordinate the activities of the State Board and resolve disputes among them;
  • Provide technical assistance to the State Boards
  • Plan and organize training of persons engaged in program on the prevention, control or abatement of water/air pollution;
  • Organize mass awareness program on the prevention, control or abatement of water and air pollution
  • Compile and publish technical and statistical data relating to water and air pollution
  • Prepare manuals and guidelines relating to treatment and disposal of sewage and trade effluents
  • Perform such other function as may be prescribed by the Government of India
